ATLANTIS MARINA
VILLAGE
Atlantis Marina Village is
alive day and night with things to do and
see, from multi-million dollar yachts to designer
clothing stores to varied types of
restaurants.
For visitors coming to the
Bahamas to shop, there's no better place to start than in the
Marina Village. Versace JC (short for Versace Jeans
Couture) clothing boutique is a must if you're looking for
jeans priced in the several hundred-dollar
range.
The world-famous Dooney &
Bourke handbags also grace the Dooney & Bourke department
shoppe found along the Marina strip.
In addition to being famous for
beaches and banks, the Bahamas are also a hotspot for other
expensive assets - jewelry.
Solomon's Sea Treasures is one
of the most popular jewelry destinations at Atlantis, as
well as the famed John Bull, where you'll find
sunglasses, perfumes and colognes, and other accessories
in addition to fine jewelry.
Of course, there are a few of
the more casual stores tucked here and there within the Marina
Village, but they're somewhat few and far between, and their
prices aren't much less expensive than those of the designer
stores.
Some of these include the
ever-popular Tommy Bahama resort wear found in Royal Palm
Trading Company and, of course, the Atlantis Trading Dock,
home to everything Atlantis and the number one destination for
souvenirs and shirts of all kinds bearing the Atlantis
emblem.
Of course, if you're not in the
mood for spending your own money but would rather enjoy
checking out the fruits of someone else's, you can spend
your time down at the dockside of the Marina
Village.
Countless yachts owned by
wealthy businessmen (and undoubtedly some famous individuals,
although the yacht staff will never divulge who) grace the
marina, and they look especially glamorous at
night.
However, if you feel like taking
a nighttime tour of the dock, watch out for the edges of the
dock - there are no railings between the sidewalk and the
water, so you might find yourself flailing about in gallons of
Atlantic Ocean seawater decked out in your Vera Wang gown
and Louis Vuitton pumps if you're not
careful.
The marina has much to offer in
the line of eateries as well, so long as you don't mind waiting
in line during the busy

times. From an ice cream shop to a
Starbucks to an authentic Bahamian juice cafe, you can't go
wrong with the goodies the marina provides for
munchies.
And of course, there's a number
of restaurants to satisfy your hunger pangs. The quaint
Johnny Rockets hamburger diner with a hoppin' fifties theme is
among the least expensive, while other cafes and steakhouses,
such as Carmine's, Seafire Steakhouse, and Cafe
Martinique round out the more expensive side of the Marina
Village. We reviewed some of the good, not so good, and
just plain strange restaurants here.
